Nigerian Spouses Visa Application (Nigerwive/SIS) – Spouse of Nigerian Visa (Nigerwife / SIS) Application Steps and Procedures – The Spouse of Nigerian Visa, also known as SIS Visa or informally “Nigerwife Visa,” is issued to foreign spouses married to Nigerian citizens who wish to live in Nigeria legally. This visa gives foreign husbands/wives permission to reside, settle, and eventually qualify for long-term residency status in Nigeria.


Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Spouse of Nigerian Visa:

  • You must be legally married to a Nigerian citizen (husband or wife).
  • Your marriage must be genuine, verifiable, and supported with evidence.
  • You must enter Nigeria on the correct visa category (Entry Visa / STR with SIS route).
  • You must have no serious criminal record.
  • You must meet health and security requirements set by Nigerian authorities.

Required Documents

Applicants generally need the following documents:

  • Valid International Passport (More than 6 months from date of issuance).
  • Passport size photograph.
  • Attested Marriage Certificate.
  • Copy of the sponsoring Nigerian citizen’s valid identification (e.g. National ID, Passport).
  • Evidence of stable residence in Nigeria (e.g. utility bill, lease agreement).
  • Police Clearance Certificate.

Personal & Travel Documents

  • International Passport (minimum 6-month validity)
  • Passport-size photographs (white background)

Marriage Proof

  • Marriage Certificate (local or international)
  • Photos of wedding, introduction, or family events (if needed)
  • Evidence of ongoing relationship (messages, joint accounts, etc. – if requested)

Spouse’s Nigerian Documents

  • Nigerian spouse’s passport or National ID (NIN Slip or National e-ID)
  • Nigerian spouse’s letter of support / undertaking
  • Proof of residence address in Nigeria

Additional Supporting Documents

  • Police clearance (if required)
  • Medical report (if required)
  • Proof of financial capability (optional but helpful)

  • Know the Online Visa Application Fee for your Nationality and Visa Category. The Main Visa Categories are Single Entry Visa, Multiple Entry Visa, STR (Subject to Regularize for a Long stay) and Temporal Work Permit (Visa Class for Minor or Dependants are also Issued).
  • Log on to the Visa Application Portal
  • Fill the Duly Completed Visa Form with your Biodata attaching your international passport Datapage, invitation letter (where applicable), travel itinerary, hotel reservation, and all supporting documents.
  • SUBMIT your Online Application and Book an Appointment, Schedule your biometric capturing at the nearest Nigerian Embassy or Consulate.
  • NOTE: There is a Mandatory Biometric Fee of US$170 exclusive of the Visa Fee Above.
